Red Turnip Beetle
Red Turnip Beetle
In sandy areas of the state these red and black-striped beetles will eat broccoli, cabbage and other plants in the Mustard family. The biggest problem comes when large numbers of beetle migrate from fields where they have been feeding on yellow rocket, wild mustard and other weeds. In these cases we can find up to 30 beetles per square foot. Because of their restricted diet they only damage the cole crops. Their numbers usually drop off by mid June.
